nursed back to health meme
[ this all felt so unnaturally complicated, but Eleanor wasn't going to pretend to have a grasp of rokurou's beliefs. she only knew a bit about his debt to velvet, so to be on the receiving end of such a commitment - ]
Well, what if something happens that'll lead to you having to choose whose debt you have to pay first?
[ she wasn't being difficult for the sake of being difficult; rather, she was just curious about how his debt system worked.
what if he needed to choose between her and velvet? ]

In that case then I would have no choice but to back off from both of you. I can't prioritize one over the other, so I would have to let you solve your own problems before going back to paying off my debt.
[he couldn't choose between the two of them, it was against his code. but he could help them both one at a time, at least.]
no subject
well. ] In any case, you have my permission to put your debt to Velvet over mine, should it happen. After all, you're a great help to her in our quest to put a stop to Lord Artorius's activities. I wouldn't want your focus to waver. [ wait. did that even make any sense? surely such an option would not arise in the future, would it?
brushing off the thought, she then moved to neaten their location as best as she could, and only stood by his side after she was done. ]
Come on. We have to go. [ pause. ] Would you be needing my help to walk?
no subject
Thanks but don't worry about that- I'll make my decisions when the time comes. I could end up choosing you over her, and vice versa. My focus isn't what you ever need to be worried about!
[well, worry about it sometimes, but eh it's probably fine.]
Hah! I may be injured but I'm not crippled! If I ever start losing limbs then you can help me walk. Maybe. [srsly don't help him walk he's fine. onward! rokurou started to walk forward, and he seemed to be walking perfectly fine.]
no subject
she let him take the lead. her spear was safely tucked behind her, so should anything arise--
she paused and turned over to her left. ] Wait. Did you hear that?
[ please let that be her imagination? ]
no subject
Yeah. Get ready. [rokurou wasn't going to skip out on the fight, despite being injured, he needed to redeem himself. he grabbed his daggers, now taking a fighting stance as he looked around. there was a distant growl, slow steps, and he could tell it was walking towards them slowly.]
no subject
the key to this fight was to keep distance. ] Flame Beast! [ the arte wasn't enough to knock back the enemy since it was quick enough to guard against it, but eleanor was satisfied to see that she was able to burn it.
she then moved to a distance, readying another spell. ] Maelstrom!
no subject
Hurricane Thrust! [he called out, suddenly stabbing his blade at the daemon. it connected and the creature roared, but it was far too strong- far too thirsty for their blood. it reared back, attempting to hit rokurou, but he ducked. angered by the dodge the beast looked back to eleanor, now breathing in it unleashed a massive wave of fire right at her.]
Eleanor-! [don't get caught up in the fire!]
no subject
she couldn't let herself get hit. she couldn't survive the wounds rokurou himself got. she needed to keep her distance, she needed to-- ]
Maelstrom! [ her arte attack was not as strong as magilou's or laphicet's, but it could still divert the attention of the daemon away from rokurou. she knew she couldn't defeat it with her artes alone; she need him to land the killing blow - and soon. ]
no subject
right now? he just wanted to kill that daemon, more than anything.
it was a good thing that eleanor was working on distracting him, he could tell what her game plan was even though they hadn't spoken. he was used to her own movements, to her fighting style, so of course he could even feel the plan she was trying to execute. distract it so he could kill it, huh? well, that certainly worked for him.
as the beast had its back to rokurou, the samurai suddenly ran up to him again. he jumped, now landing on the beast's shoulders and he thrust his knives down into the head of the creature. it was hard for his daggers to sink into it, but with his full strength he slashed and stabbed at its head before it roared back. rokurou had no choice but to jump off of it.
wait- that was it!]
Eleanor, get to the river right now! [if they could at least put out its flames for the time being, they could most likely kill it pretty easily. rokurou would follow behind her, of course, but she had to lead.]
no subject
she cast the arte rock swarm while she tried to think of another move.
then rokurou was shouting at her to get to the river and of course, that was the best course of action right now. but for their plan to work she had to get the creature's attention again. ]
Ice Edge![ there! it turned away from rokurou and advanced towards her. without wasting another second eleanor was moving towards the river as fast as she could despite the exhaustion seeping through her bones; thankfully it wasn't too far from their location.
how to push the creature to the waters, though, was another plan altogether. ]
no subject
without saying another word he ran behind the two of them as well. okay- they needed a plan of action, and he was certain the daemon couldn't understand them anyways. he was too far gone.]
We have to try and trip it, and then I'll strike-!
no subject
eleanor dodged a few more trees, then looked behind her. the enemy was fast approaching, but she was closing on the river. just a few feet more--
a low-hanging vine caught her attention, just then. it was perfect. throwing caution to the wind, eleanor placed her spear behind her, darted forward to grab the vine, then pulled until it formed a line directly onto the daemon's path. the creature's momentum was too much, and it wasn't able to stop in face of the obstacle - soon it was falling, right into the river. ]
Rokurou!
no subject
Alright-! [his blood was pumping, his eye under his hair shone brightly, and he grabbed at the sword on his back.]
Form 9! [he took it out of its sheath, slicing at the daemon while it lay squirming while the waters consumed it and rokurou's attacks cut at it again and again. he sliced until he cut at its vitals, now jumping off of the daemon and then sheathing his blade.]
Final Judgment.
no subject
she knew better than to try and interfere, not when he was about to land the killing blow. she was just going to get in the way and ruining things while they were so close to victory was just an idiotic thing to do. soon he was performing his mystic arte and a sense of profound excitement coursed through her veins then. just a few more, just a few more... ]
You can do it! [ her voice was small; she didn't intend to be heard, but she had to voice out her support. ] You can do it!
no subject
he just wanted to deliver the finishing blow and get proper revenge on it. he was glad that eleanor was staying out of it, this really was his fight after all.
rokurou took out his daggers and walked towards the head of the daemon. it writhed in the water and he then placed his daggers right by its neck.]
You were challenging, I'll give you that. [and he then crossed his daggers over, slicing off the head of the daemon. once everything was said and done he looked over at eleanor. care to come join him?]
no subject
eleanor shook her head slightly at the thought, then without preamble walked right into the river to stand behind him. ]
It's dead, isn't it? [ it looked dead, since only very few enemies survived rokurou's slew of artes. besides, with its head cut off...
still, there was no fault in exercising caution whenever she could. ] It's not going to revive or anything?
no subject
That was an excellent idea Eleanor! That vine was placed just perfectly! [rokurou laughed, letting out a 'yahoo!' before he placed his hands on his hips, obviously very excited about the entire situation.]
No no, it's dead, definitely. We got revenge on the daemon... so... thank you, I was able to get back at it thanks to your help.
no subject
...and was that a blush staining her cheeks just then? probably. eleanor averted her eyes and turned away towards the daemon's corpse near her feet. ] It was your idea to trip him and push him into the waters anyway. I'm just glad I can assist you in any way I can.
[ only when she was certain that she was no longer feeling warmth on her face did she step closer to him again. the look of the bandages across his chest concerned her greatly. ] How are you feeling?
no subject
I'm feeling fantastic. [....though, he did just realize that he had been bleeding due to his open wounds.]
....Whoops. [that was a mistake... and he would rather not fall over from the blood loss.]
Hey I just thought of a new way to repay you. I'll buy you a new jacket. [SO CONSIDERATE.]
no subject
You ought not to think of that yet, Rokurou. [ her exorcist jacket was... irreplaceable, unfortunately, unless she could contact her old friends from her training days and request for one. she might have an extra jacket lying around the ship. ] Besides, Eizen might not allow you to dip into the group's funds for something so... inconsequential.
[ she frowned again. blood was seeping right through the bandages and daemon or not, she'd rather have him conscious when they return to the ship. drawing even closer, she tried to adjust his loosened banages so they would at least cover what they were supposed to cover. ] Come on. Let's find Magilou and the others.
no subject
I'll come up with my own gald then, no problem. [just let him buy you a new jacket dammit.]
Alright, let's go find everyone else. [might as well find everyone and tell them of their epic battles.]
